This colorful small modern farmhouse powder room design has the wow factor I’ve always wanted.
It’s time for me to reveal the Colorful Small Modern Farmhouse Powder Room Makeover I just finished. I am so excited about this one, guys!
The beautiful wallpaper from Anthropologie, DIY v-groove paneling, that DIY vanity I made when I cut a dresser in half, Crown Molding, and DIY Wood Shelf over a toilet, and farmhouse vessel sink all work together to give this room a sweet and modern farmhouse style that I am so in love with right now.
A peek at those awesome Teal cabinets I painted a couple of months ago in our Laundry Room. This powder room sits right next to them. So, I was looking for a wallpaper with some pops of teal too. You can see here that I carried the v-groove panel wainscoting into both rooms. I love v-groove in our traditional home that has a lot of wainscoting, where beadboard would feel a bit too country here. You can read more about how I installed the paneling in step 3 of this powder room post. That Teak Vase from Target is my current favorite home decor. I want one in every room!
I’ll start with a couple pictures from when we moved in, then get right to what I did to get this look and everything I used. I feel like I have finally found a style that I understand and can really design around.
First, a quick look at how this Powder Room looked when we moved in 6 years ago. I really struggled with the design in this room. You can also see the 5 Powder Room Makeover Ideas I used in 2016 here. Those 5 steps gave this room a huge improvement, this Modern Farmhouse Powder Room just added more style to it!

How welcoming and fun is this room now?! It just makes me happy every time I’m in there. That vessel sink adds tons of character and saves storage space in that dresser I cut in half to make this vanity. I have steps for how to cut and modify drawers for plumbing too.I tend to have the best luck with cute towels and rugs from Target. Their Threshold line tends to be the one I always end up buying. But the Magnolia Home Line is a close second. Those pretty faux bone drawer pulls are from World Market. If you don’t have one of those nearby, Amazon has a bunch of great bone/white drawer pulls. And, if your tile grout is dingy and ugly, here’s my DIY to Fix Ugly Grout. It’s a game changer, guys. 🙂That mirror has been a real challenge for me in the last 6 years. I’ve painted it 4 times but I never really liked it until I did this Rust Patina makeover. This is a simple update for old decor. Just brush on the special paint, then spray with the patina. so easy for an update that turns out so beautiful! You can find the Rust Patina DIY steps here. That DIY V-Groove Paneling and Anthropologie Sychronized Wallpaper are a match made in heaven, right. I just love them together. I use Behr’s Polished Pearl on all of the wainscoting and trim in our home. You can see it on my DIY Board and Batten feature wall in the kid’s room too. You can find a great wallpaper tutorial on the Love and Renovations website. She picked a really fun Anthropologie wallpaper for her breakfast nook.I try to add Crown Molding to any room I’m working on. I love the look of traditional moldings. Crown just adds a finished and polished look to any room. You can see an example of Chunky Crown Molding in our Boy’s Bedroom too.Another view of that beautiful wallpaper. We are lucky to have these extra storage cabinets hanging in each bathroom. You can never have enough storage, right. We’re also lucky to have 10-foot high ceilings on the first floor.I added this simple and sweet DIY shelf to add a bit more color and character. Plus, it sort of breaks up all of that white wainscoting in a nice way. My son painted those little bird houses for me when he was 2. I just had to find a way to display them. 🙂The faucets are Moen Brantford faucets. They have a nice traditional style that works with this colorful modern farmhouse powder room.A little view from above. That counter is Silestone Lusso Quartz leftover from our big Kitchen Remodel. We used it in our Laundry Room Makeover too. So, what do you think? Did you find anything you can use in your home? I hope this makeover inspired or helped in some way. Don’t forget to Pin your favorite images to Pinterest for later. 🙂

Stephanie, it’s gorgeous. And I love what you’ve done to the mirror. Perfect!
Thanks so much, Jean!
Love the way your bathroom turned out!! I’m going to be working on my bathroom next, just finished a guest bedroom, painted the ceiling myself. Ouch. I love the DIY stuff though. Coming over from Thursday Favorite Things Party. Best wishes, Linda @Crafts a la mode
Thanks so much, Linda. Good luck with your bathroom. I hope you love it. 🙂
Stephanie, what an amazing makeover! I love love the wallpaper it really “makes” the space. Using the dresser for a sink is so clever.
I will feature this project at this weeks Creative Circle link party going live Thursday! I hope you come share with us again soon!
Thanks so much, Linda. So flattered to hear you like this and that you’ll be featuring it. Exciting!

Thanks so much! I’m so excited about this room. And really happy other people like it too. 🙂
You did a great job in designing this. I love the wallpaper and the sink in the dresser. Thank you for sharing at Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make.
Thanks so much, Debra.
Love, love, love that wall paper. It’s so soothing (not sure if that’s the right word) but you kind of get lost in the design in a dreamy way.
Thanks so much, Michelle. It is a pattern but it strangly relaxes me. 🙂
Love the bathroom wallpaper; the pops of color are fantastic. I love the teal. I recently had my bathroom painted a light turquoise–maybe 2 shades lighter than a robin’s egg; darker than I thought it would be but I love it. I have NEVER been a neutral lover. Black pants are only an adjunct to a hot pink/orange/turquoise/lime, etc top! Some of the all-white kitchen pictures I’ve seen make me wonder if a dr. could do surgery on a countertop! Just me! Love how can use a variety of towel colors in your bathroom, too! Nice finish on the mirror-hadn’t seen that before. Nice post.
Thanks so much, Kathy. I used to always plan a room around nuetrals. Not sure why. I never loved them. But now that I’m adding color everywhere, I am actually beginning to love these rooms. 🙂
This is gorgeous! I love everything about it – especially the wallpaper. 🙂 I like how you tied the bathroom colors into the neighboring laundry room, and those birdhouses are so sweet. Great transformation!
Thanks, Amy. I’m so glad I added color to these rooms. They are so cheerful now. 🙂
