Room Reveal! Fun Boys Bedroom Ideas and DIY’s

Check out this before and after! It was so drab after years of rushed bedroom changes as the boys grew. It was in serious need of an update!

I am so happy I went with this style of board and batten. It’s thin lattice boards spaced about 5 inches apart. I also installed an extra chunky crown moulding in this room. This accent wall color is Behr’s Polished Pearl Latex in Eggshell sheen. It’s the color I use for all of the trim in our house. The blue walls are from the Magnolia Homes collection by Kilz. It’s Vibrant Horizon with an Eggshell finish. I found that map of the US at a Home Goods a few years ago. I made the 5 orange and blue ‘DREAM” canvases above it with supplies I found at Hobby Lobby. You can find the DIY for those fun chunky, wood curtain rods here too. The curtains are the blue Spacedye Curtain Panel from Target. I love the look and feel of them. I’ve been patiently waiting for them to restock the grey version so I can put them in my room!

My oldest can’t resist the chance to jump in front of a camera. Which makes life a bit more challenging for a blogger. 😉 I love this Blue Triangle Stitch Quilt I found at Target. It holds up to washing really well and it works perfectly with that fabric on the DIY Upholstered Twin Headboard. It’s Magnolia Homes Brighton Navy fabric I ordered from Amazon. My husband thought this was way too big, until he saw it in action. I love this DIY 8′ long magnet and Lego board. The boys think it’s really fun too. I built this DIY PVC Pipe Tent a few months ago. It has a drop cloth cover and fun DIY Yarn Tassels. I love how it works under that green leaf wall canopy.

This room is just so cheerful and fun now. Don’t you think? I smile every time I see it! The Dark Blue Bed Set pops off the lighter blue and white walls. Those great photo canvases are my way of letting the boy’s show off a fun memory of theirs. And it reminds them of their favorite pet donkeys.

AND, if you look closely, you’ll see that the outlet cover to the right of the tent has a built in nightlight. Now the kids can’t unplug and play with the nightlight. Nice! If you look closely at the ceiling, you’ll see I strung fishing line across that corner in a few places. Then I hung stringed white stars to create a fun 3D star effect over that hanging green leaf wall canopy and the tent. It’s a bit of the outside, inside. The white vinyl stars on the wall behind the hanging stars helps give the whole corner a fuller look. The white vinyl moon is a favorite of my moon-obsessed 2-year old.

This, this wall turned out so much cooler than I had ever hoped. The white vinyl clouds and sun I found online with the vintage airplane vinyl look fun enough. But adding those easy to make DIY 3D Hot Air Balloons just makes it all so much more awesome. Can I do this in our Master too? 😉 The long board beneath that is a DIY Farmhouse Style Magnet and Lego board.
