SnapPower Guidelight Review and Installation Video

Looking for an easy to install light-sensing nightlight that isn’t too bright and the kids can’t play with it? I found one!

Now and then I like to share some of my favorite home improvement and DIY products with you. Like my super popular post about the best Grout Update, ever! I have not been paid for this SnapPower Guidelight Review. I just heard about this outlet cover and had to try it. So glad I did. This thing is awesome as a nightlight in my boys’ bedroom!

The nightlight I have been using for the last few years is just a standard plug-in light. It also came on automatically when the room is too dark. But it was way too bright, really. So, I had the light halfway blocked by the crib legs. But once the little guy moved to a Twin Bed, I didn’t have anything to block that light with. I added finding a better solution to their bedroom makeover to-do list.

Simply unscrew your outlet cover and replace with this cover. No wiring, at all. This SnapPower Guidelight makes a great nightlight in the kids room or as a guidelight for hallways, kitchens, and bathrooms at night. I love this easy home upgrade! SnapPower Guidelight Review: Two Thumbs Up

Looks just like a normal outlet cover during the day. Just has a tiny light censor near the bottom.

When the light sensor is covered or the room is dark, 3 low lights automatically come on. Easy!

This SnapPower Guidelight was a great solution. You simply unscrew the old cover and screw this one in. That’s it! No shutting off the power, no messing with wires, and no hiring an electrician. It doesn’t have to be a kid’s nightlight though! The SnapPower Guidelight is really meant to be installed in hallways, pathways, kitchens, any room you might walk around in at night. Pathway lights are an awesome home upgrade, guys!

I hate turning on lights in the middle of the night. Bright light just makes a bit of insomnia that much more annoying. The amount of light from the SnapPower Guidelight is enough to help let you safely navigate around your house without turning on bright lights. And I have to say, it’s especially perfect for keeping babies nice and sleepy during that 2AM feed. I love that!

I have the old-fashioned guidelights in a few spots in my home. This type had to be wired in and usually used up one of the outlet spots. The SnapPower Guidelight is so much easier and more convenient.

You can even install these on a light switch. Yippee! No more middle of the night bathroom trips in the dark. I’m adding this to the kid’s bathroom too. They even have an outlet cover with a USB port and guidelight combo. Nice!

And, as a final ‘Mom Note’, having this nightlight built into the outlet has another huge benefit. My kids can’t unplug it and play with it. Once the crib wasn’t blocking the old light, they were constantly unplugging it, playing with it, and moving it around. I imagine that’s a big problem with those fun kids character night lights, too. Who wants to hunt down a nightlight at bedtime, not me! And I don’t want the kids playing with outlets either. All the more reason to give two huge thumbs up on this SnapPower Guidelight Review.

Here are the highlights on this review and the one small negative.

SnapPower Guidelight Review: Reasons to Buy

  • So amazingly easy to install. No need to shut off the power or call an electrician. Just remove the old outlet cover and pop this in!
  • Give your home an upgrade that high end homes normally have, without losing an outlet.
  • This nightlight can’t be removed by kids who think it’s a fun toy.
  • No need to turn this on. It’s light sensor makes everything automatic.
  • The LED lights use just a small amount of power, don’t produce the heat of old fashioned lights, and last so much longer!

SnapPower Guidelight Review: Just 1 Negative

  • This isn’t really that big of a deal, since this product uses such a small amount of energy. But adding an on/off switch might be a handy feature. Just in case someone might find a good reason to turn this off from time to time.

That’s it. Time to install your high tech new hallway guide lights or nightlights. You’ll love being able to make those midnight snack trips to the kitchen without having to turn on any lights!

What a brilliant concept. I'll have to do some research to see if they have something similar for our outlet here in South Africa. This is really cool

We've got several of the SnapPower Guide Light and absolutely love them! Had them a couple of years and they work beautifully. Nice to have something that gives off light, but doesn't take up an electrical outlet.
